Casino Negligence Allegations Emerge Following Tragic Fatal Assault

A legal case has been initiated in Moncton, a city within the Canadian province of New Brunswick, where a casino is accused of negligence regarding a fatal attack. The incident involved a heavily intoxicated individual assaulting the family member of the plaintiffs, who happened to be the manager of Casino New Brunswick at that time.
The plaintiffs consist of Rodney Frenette’s widow, daughter, and estate; they have submitted two separate lawsuits. One is directed at the alleged assailant, Michael Thomas Glaspy, while the other targets the casino’s owner, Great Canadian Gaming. Glaspy is facing a manslaughter charge for the incident earlier this year in March.
The lawsuit against Great Canadian Gaming claims that the company failed to safeguard their deceased manager adequately, Rodney Frenette, aged 56, from Glaspy’s actions. The legal document characterizes Glaspy as a 300lb intoxicated individual with a history of violent behavior, whose single punch resulted in Frenette’s unfortunate demise just over three weeks later.
The formal statement detailing the lawsuit argues that the casino’s security team should have taken measures to prevent Glaspy, who was visibly intoxicated, from engaging in violent actions, including punching.
Conversely, the lawsuit targeting Glaspy alleges that he employed “excessive force” against Frenette and neglected to consider his substantial physical strength and potential training in martial arts or boxing. The plaintiffs also point out that Glaspy chose to enter a gambling establishment despite knowing that such environments exacerbated his anger and irritation.
